Reviews of Carlos 1800 Mexican Grill

An unfortunate dining experience!

I found this restaurant to be a great dissapointment, and I am usually very tolerant of service and food. However, there were at least 7 things that were substandard. With regards to the service: 1) Were told that a table near the windows would be available in about 30 minutes. We waited 30 minutes and then were shown to a booth with no windows. When we reminded the waiter that we were expecting a window table, he replied that this was all there was. A few minutes later, some people who came in after us were shown to an empty windoe table 2) As soon as we sat down, the waiter wanted to take our order, even though we hadn't even had time to open the menus. Then he disappeared for what seemed to be 10 minutes. 3) The waiter was poorly informed about the food. My friend wanted something that wasn't too spicey, and she asked about whether various dishes had jalepenos in them or other hot peppers. The waiter kept saying that there was nothing on the menu that wasn't spicey, which was clearly not the case. She was constantly worried that she was going to eat something that would make her get indegestion. 4) The salsa and chips arrived at our table after we had been there more than 20 minutes 5) The food was very bland and tasteless. I ordered fajitas, and for my $14.95, I received a large skillet of lukewarm onions, red and green peppers, and exceptionally little meat. The lukewarm quality was really unpleasant. My friend's carne asada was also lukewarm. 6) I has ordered iced tea. the waiter never came around to offer me more during the entire meal. 7) I had to specially request guacamole for my fajitas 8) the other fillings for the fajitas had absolutely no taste. 9) the amount of refried beans was very small - served in a little cup. 10) and the piece de resitance, the waiter brought my friend her carne asada, and my plate with the rice and fillings, and then informed me that he had dropped the plate containing the fajitas on the kitchen floor. He said that they would be getting me another in about 5-10 minutes. I asked him to take my plate that had rice, etc, back to the kitchen and keep it warm. he seemed confused by my request, but eventually did so. When a new plattter of lukewarm fajitas was brought to the table, my firend had almost finished her meal, and I had to eat fast to make her feel comfortable.
All in all, a most unpleasant experience. I will never, ever go back.
