City Confidant

Whether it’s a new restaurant opening, a weekend getaway, the perfect gift for entertaining, or a local theater production, City Confidant, a locally-based opt-in, e-mail newsletter (and Web site), will not simply list businesses in a zip code. Rather, savvy advice and recommendations are offered up in a casual tone, much like getting e-mail suggestions from a trusted friend.
Whether born and raised in Seattle or new to the area, subscribers receive guided advice so they can rediscover Seattle, the Eastside, and much of the rest of the region. The newsletter and Web site also makes a great guide for those visiting the Northwest. “It’s a quick two-minute read – almost like ripping the page out of magazine,” says Jordan Kaye, founder, who launched City Confidant in February 2010.
The content is generated by professional journalists. “We’re not trying to replace anything locally, like newspapers or magazines,” says Kaye, whose background is in marketing, not publishing. “I’m not even in my own demographic. But I saw an opening for something fun and playful to fill a need.”
City Confidant targets an older "more educated audience that is a lot more comfortable using the Internet,” says Kaye. “They’re using e-mail way more, they’re Skyping, they’re all over this stuff.”
And just like their audience, City Confidant too is taking a summer vacation to revamp the site and make some exciting new changes. Subscribe today at cityconfidant.com and you'll begin receiving the daily email upon its return after Labor Day. And don’t forget to become a fan on Facebook and Twitter!
