Blazing Onion Burger Company

Published: 07/30/2010 by Jen Lang

The Blazing Onion began as an idea that fast food could be great food. Owners and founders David and Lorri Jones combined the best elements of quick service with casual dining and developed a fast-casual restaurant with a full service attitude. They want their customers to enjoy a fresh-broiled burger with quality ingredients, in a warm and relaxing atmosphere—without going to an expensive full service restaurant. Thus, Blazing Onion was developed.

With only a few weeks to come up with a name, on a road trip to see their daughter Jessica at Washington State University, David and Lorri started brain storming. Lorri threw out the word “Blazing.” Then David added the word “Onion.” Instantly they knew their restaurant would be named the Blazing Onion Burger Company. In March of 2007 the first Blazing Onion opened its doors.

The menu features more than 25 unique gourmet burgers including a meatloaf burger, buffalo burger, and a wild boar burger. If you have a favorite burger combination, it’s probably on the menu too. Blazing Onion insist on high-quality ingredients such as Tillamook cheese, thick-cut peppered bacon, homemade burger sauces, fresh produce, and all natural ground chuck. For a healthier option substitute the ground chuck for a fresh chicken breast, the homemade turkey patty, or a Santa Fe vegetarian patty.

Each burger patty is made in-house from fresh, never frozen, all natural (meaning – no anti-biotics, hormones, and are vegetarian fed), 100% ground chuck from Painted Hills Natural Beef. Each gourmet burger is toped with their secret signature burger seasoning and served on locally baked buns that don’t fall apart when confronted with lots of juicy sauces. You are not limited to burgers. Their extensive menu of salads, sandwiches, entrees, kid’s items, appetizers, desserts, craft beers, local wines, and liquor are sure to please any hungry crowd. Many of their products are made from scratch, including: the turkey burger, Outlaw ‘3 Bean’ chili, BOB Sauce, BBQ sauce, peanut butter pie, mudd pie, and more. See the full menu.

Ordering at the front counter gets your food on the grill right away, but it doesn’t mean the service is over. Blazing Onion does fast casual different than most. You can choose to close your check out at the counter or leave it open to add more to your visit. After you select a table, you can relax knowing the entire Blazing Onion staff is responsible to help you have a wonderful dining experience. If you need anything, use the ’Service Alert’ sign on the table. They call it “Service on Demand.” Someone will be there in 30 seconds after the sign goes up. No more looking and waiting for a server. Of course don’t forget the full-service sports lounge. Either way, restaurant or lounge, Blazing Onion will take care of you.

Blazing Onion is currently in Gig Harbor, Mill Creek and Snohomish. Keep a look out for the next two stores planned to open in Marysville April 2011 and the Alderwood Mall June 2011. Blazing Onion isn’t stopping there, in 2012 and 2013 the restaurant hopes to expand to the Eastside, Seattle and Ft. Lewis.
